After recently forming an Advisory Committee, College of Nursing Dean, Dr. Marie Foley, shared her vision to revive the College of Nursing Alumni Association. Six members of her Advisory Committee agreed to carry that goal forward. The Association strives to foster personal and professional relationships, mentoring and networking opportunities for its members, faculty and students through its programs, events and activities. At its core is the goal to uphold the key values of the University and professional nursing practice.
Working with Matt Borowick, SHU Associate Vice President for Alumni and Government Relations, the newly revitalized SHU College of Nursing Alumni Association met prior to celebrating with the Nursing Alumni Honorees at the Margaret C. Hayley Awards.
Ann McBride Ellis, Sally Corbo Backfish, Barbara Kiernan, Dean Marie Foley, Anne Connor and Mary Ellen Urbanowicz have been planning some exciting alumni events to drive the mission of the University. Come join your fellow Alumni at the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 6, 2016 or meet them to cheer on the SHU Men's Basketball Team on February 18, 2017 when they take on Villanova at the Newark Prudential Center. Plans are being formed as the SHU CON Alumni Association works with Gamma Nu to host a professional mentoring workshop for current nursing students this coming spring. All nursing alumni are welcome to join the Association and participate in any event. Please feel free to contact any executive board members for more information.
