Student Life Launches the ‘Weekender’ Blog

Weekender Looking for something to do on campus on a Sunday afternoon? Want to try the garlic fries at the local burger joint? Need to know the fastest way to get from here to there?

The Weekender has the answers.

Launched by Student Life, the Weekender is a comprehensive blog site filled with events and activities on campus and in South Orange as well as throughout New Jersey and New York City. Updated weekly, the blog features events, happenings, trip ideas and tips. Never before has the campus had a resource that so artfully organizes events and things to do in one place.

A result of a market research project among current Seton Hall students, the blog was created with a great deal of student input. Student Life asked, and students responded that they needed more information on things to do and how to make the most of their time at Seton Hall.

studentsSections of the blog include:

• Welcome to New Jersey

• Down the Hall

• Loving South Orange and Beyond

• Spotlight On…

• New York City

Featured sections also include “things to do this month,” as well as events and activities organized by the seasons. Even those familiar with the area will be surprised by the number of activities taking place “right in their own backyard,” whether it’s paddle boating near Turtle Back Zoo, a SOPAC jazz concert, a dine-in cinema or hiking in South Mountain Reservation.

studentsAnother key feature of the blog is a “Suggestion Box.” Student Life encourages its use, especially for sharing ideas on enhancing the blog, events to add or simply telling others about a great meal at one of the nearby restaurants.

Creation of the blog was definitely a team effort. With this in mind, Student Life extends a special thank you to TLTC staffers: Thomas McGee, Christopher Petruzzi and Jessica Jones.
