Join Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at a Mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Basilica, where we will mark the closing of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Seminary. Archbishop Myers will preside and preach as we raise our hearts and voices in praise and thanksgiving to God for all the blessings and graces we have received. All are invited to share in this joyful occasion.
Since April of 2010 Immaculate Conception Seminary has been celebrating the sesquicentennial of its foundation by the first Bishop of Newark, James Roosevelt Bayley. This past year has given all of us at the Seminary time to reflect upon the tremendous legacy which has been handed down to us over these past 150 years by the great Shepherds of the Church in Newark, by the extraordinary priests and men and women who have served on our administration, faculty and staff, by the thousands of alumni who have served the Lord in many dioceses in New Jersey and throughout the country and the world as priests and more recently as workers in the areas of the Church’s teaching and pastoral mission, and by the countless numbers of Christ’s faithful who have given so generously with their prayers and their financial gifts for the work of the Seminary.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Basilica, 89 Ridge Street, Newark, for this special Mass.
