Seton Hall University's annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on December 5, 2017 on the University Green.
Launching this year's Christmas at The Hall, the day's events will begin with Mass in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at 5 p.m., followed by the Blessing of the Crèche at 5:30, and the tree lighting ceremony at 5:45, rain or shine.
The 60-foot Norway Spruce, adorned with 43,000 Christmas lights, will illuminate the celebration where participants can enjoy free hot chocolate, Christmas Carols by campus choirs and pictures with the Seton Hall Pirate.
In addition to this year's Christmas Tree festivities, the University's Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE) is holding its annual food and toy drives this holiday season. A DOVE table will be on the University Green during the event to receive donations for those less fortunate in the community and in Appalachia.
Named the Best College for Christmas in America, Seton Hall is again promoting its 12 Acts of Christmas Kindness tradition. Started by a Seton Hall student in 2013, the initiative encourages people in the community to perform acts of holiday kindness, and inspire others to take part in the movement by sharing their stories on social media using #christmaskindness and #hallchristmas.
