The College of Education and Human Services (CEHS) successfully hosted its second annual Kids at College event at Seton Hall University.
“Kids at College is a collaborative effort between the Old Bridge Township Public School System and local colleges and universities. Students in the fourth grade are introduced to the concept of higher education through various classroom lessons and activities” (Old Bridge Township Schools).
The CEHS hosted 55 fourth graders from Southwood Elementary School and gave them a snapshot of college life at Seton Hall. Southwood students received Seton Hall IDs and backpacks, spoke with Dean Joseph DePierro, experienced a campus tour and actively participated in small group lessons given by students in Dr. Mary Mueller's Math Methods in Diverse Classrooms course. The day ended on an exciting note with a surprise visit from Seton Hall’s Pirate Mascot during lunch.
Other university partners for Kids at College include: Princeton University, Middlesex County, Kean University, Rutgers State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Georgian Court University, and the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey.
