The Seton Hall Music Major is prepared for a lifetime in music. Through a student-centered mentoring approach with nationally acclaimed faculty in a variety of disciplines and a rigorous program of performances and curricular offerings, students are expected to attain the following goals:

  • Historical awareness of music in cultural context
  • Theoretical proficiency including aural skills and music analysis
  • Creativity and personal expression
  • Instrumental/vocal proficiency including technical capabilities and knowledge of repertoire base
  • Personal discipline applied to performance training and ensemble participation
  • Writing and research skills used toward critical thinking in music interpretation
