Dr. Bonita Stanton, Dean of the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University, was honored as Humanitarian of the Year at the Eighth Annual John V. Kelly Memorial Foundation dinner held at Nanina's in the Park in Belleville. Also honored were David Infusino and Vincent Locurcio, owners of the Nutley Park Shoprite.
The mission of the Kelly Memorial Foundation is to continue Mr. Kelly's legacy of aiding the less fortunate, promoting scholarship and assisting organizations with their charitable endeavors.
Sharing the new School of Medicine's vision, Dean Stanton said, "Every person in New Jersey and eventually in the United States, regardless of race or socioeconomic status, will enjoy the highest levels of wellness in an economically and behaviorally sustainable fashion."
"We propose that the physicians we train are going to act on their understanding that health and wellness occur where we live. That is, in the community, not in a hospital or in an office. That kind of focus on health in the home and in the community is what drives wellbeing," she explained.
