We are very excited to admit students to the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University. Being a member of a new medical school is a rare and exciting opportunity; not only is the new medical school shaping each of its medical student's future as a clinician, each medical student is strongly influencing the long-term direction and impact of the medical school on all of the students in future years and their patients.

Dear Prospective Medical Student,

Welcome and congratulations on progressing this far on your journey to becoming a physician!

Medicine is a wonderful field, offering opportunity for boundless purpose, societal contribution and personal fulfillment.

I have loved my career as a pediatrician, educator, researcher and academic administrator in the U.S. and abroad. Every role has been exciting and fulfilling in its own way. But in each of these endeavors, I have enjoyed most the human connection – with patients and their families, students and residents, researchers and colleagues with whom I’ve collaborated.

And it is that human connection that stands at the core of our curriculum at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University. The excitement – and promise – of starting a new medical school is beyond comparison, and we invite you to apply and join us as we forge a new path in the practice of medicine. A new school need not, and should not, follow tracks that were laid in the past. Our vision and mission must be bold and forward thinking to prepare you for dynamic changes in medicine and care delivery.

You, as the next generation of physician, will take health care beyond healing to the promising science of prevention, beyond the walls of hospitals and into communities, connecting with people in health, not just in illness.

You will play a crucial role that paves the way for a future in which all people in our state, and eventually our country, can realize the same high expectations of health and well-being regardless of race, wealth, zip code or degree of education.

We will achieve this vital mission by offering a highly interactive curriculum in which our students will drive much of that interaction. Our unique approach relies on collaborative learning and classes with other health care professional students and even those in more distant fields such as law.

You will connect with patients immediately and regularly and thrive in our community-focused, clinically-based and highly integrated curriculum, led by gifted faculty from 16 hospitals in the great state of New Jersey.

Those of us at the School of Medicine are excited by our progress and our challenges. And we have been anxiously awaiting something essential – we have been waiting for YOU.

Should you apply for admission, you will not just be seeking membership in the proud and impressive ranks of licensed physicians. Rather, you will also be embarking, from Day One, on your development toward a calling that will transform you as well as the health of people and communities across our nation.

We look forward to hearing from you!
