What Great Minds Can Do: Lillie Moran
Raleigh, North Carolina
"There are many people who have extraordinary talents; however, those who are leaders are able to recognize their unique talent and use it to help others find their own. "
Lillie Moran is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. "I've been lucky enough to have grown up in the South my whole life. It has taught me to be humble and proud of my culture. I hope to instill those same cultural principles at Seton Hall that I have learned growing up." She is currently a Finance major, and a member of the renowned Business Leadership Program. Over the past few years, Lillie has enjoyed tremendous achievements in academics and athletics. Lillie received the Athlete Award and Distinguished Scholastic award in the years of 2014-2015, as well as interning with Shanahan McDougal, a law firm in Raleigh. Growing up, she faced many challenges, but the most notable has been her constant moving to new states. Lillie, however, expressed that it "has helped her become more adaptable in both the classroom and in social settings."
Along with her strong southern roots, Lillie finds pride in her Irish heritage, saying that traveling to visit her family in Ireland has exposed her to new opportunities and new people. Although Lillie credits her success to all of her family, she says that her father has been a constant inspiration throughout her life. Seeing his strength and perseverance has taught her to be patient, while focusing on the principle of servant leadership. Aside from her academic life, some of her hobbies include traveling, listening to music, and watching classic movies. After graduating from Seton Hall, Lillie hopes to attend law school. When asked about her future career as an attorney, Lillie said, "There are a lot of jobs out there that I feel my major will help me land. However, my passion for justice and defending others still intrigues me and is something that I hope to do one day."
The Business Leadership Program is what piqued Lillie's interest in Seton Hall. After reading the history and proven success of the program, she left her comfortable life in Raleigh and traveled, yet again, to a new place. "I knew I wanted a place that felt like home since I knew I wanted to go up North," says Lillie, "As soon as I stepped on campus, I knew I was home and I knew Seton Hall was right for me." Lillie is currently involved in the Marketing and Recruiting Initiative, the Consulting Club, the Leadership Apparel Initiative, and hopes to be involved in Greek life at campus in the near future.
