Russian Cuisine: From Everyday Family Meals to Seasonal Holiday Specialties  

Picture of Russian Mardi Gras 2018From 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019 in Fahy 236, the Slavic Club will be hosting a cooking demo on "Russian Cuisine: From Everyday Family Meals to Seasonal Holiday Specialties" by Dr. Irina Kazakevich.

Food is an essential component of any travel abroad cultural experience. Dr. Kazakevich, one of our Russian professors, will explain what kind of cuisine to expect in Russia. She will also explain the history of Russian cooking, the Russian contemporary cuisine, and the similarities and differences between American and Russian eating habits.

During this workshop, our audience members will have a chance to participate in the preparation of famous Russian dishes, such as salad olivie, and can try some traditional Russian dishes. At the end of this workshop, each person will receive an e-copy of the Russian cookbook with simple recipes of everyday Russian dishes and holiday specialties.
