Reports

The Common Data Set

The Common Data Set (CDS) was developed as a collaborative effort among higher education institutions and publishers to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to publishers, while reducing the reporting burden on institutions.  The CDS is a set of standards and data items used in many surveys.

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System

The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is a system of interrelated surveys conducted annually.  The surveys report data on enrollments, program completions, graduation rates, faculty and staff, finances, institutional prices, and student financial aid.  The completion of all IPEDS surveys is mandatory for institutions that participate in any federal student financial aid program.

National Survey of Student Engagement

The National Survey of Student Engagement (known as NSSE), is a national study that asks students to characterize their classes, their study environments, their curriculum and their campus in terms of features associated with active learning and engagement.

 The dashboards provide:
  • a display for quick reviews of SHU’s undergraduate student engagement trends; and
  • a first pass scan for use by individual areas seeking to plan out in-depth reviews of Seton Hall’s engagement levels on items relevant to specific initiatives or University subdivisions; or, by institutional level researchers seeking to identify engagement items measured by NSSE that may relate to particular elements within the University’s strategic plan.
