The 28th Annual Dr. George Perez Research Colloquium is marking a historic milestone. This year, the Research Colloquium is hosted by both the School of Health and Medical Sciences (SHMS) and the Seton Hall-Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine (SOM) – another notable example of these schools' shared goals in interprofessional education.
SHMS and SOM are proud to collaborate on this event, which takes place on Friday, April 28, 2017, on the Seton Hall University campus in South Orange, New Jersey. The Research Colloquium showcases research being conducted by students, residents, fellows, faculty and staff within (and affiliated with) our institutions. This year, we also welcome researchers from the Seton Hall University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Department of Biological Sciences, as well as colleagues from the Hackensack Meridian Health network. In addition, many of the research projects being presented today are conducted in partnership with colleagues across the country and around the world.
The April 28th Research Colloquium will feature 175 poster presentations and 4 platform presentations in the Recreation Center on campus, and a keynote address in Jubilee Hall. The full schedule is available here.
The keynote speaker is Robert Korngold, PhD, Professor of Medical Sciences at the School of Medicine. At Hackensack University Medical Center, Dr. Korngold is Chair of the Department of Research, Chief of the Basic Research Division at the John Theurer Cancer Center, and Senior Scientist at The David & Alice Jurist Institute for Research. His lecture (9:00 a.m.) will focus on the immunobiology of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and graft-versus-tumor (GVT) responses following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), commonly used to treat patients with hematological malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
We are grateful for our longtime sponsor of the Research Colloquium: MDAdvantage Insurance Company of New Jersey. The Perez Research Colloquium is held in conjunction with the Seton Hall University Petersheim Academic Exposition, which begins April 18.
