Update Regarding August 12, 2020 Executive Order by Governor Phil Murphy

Earlier today, Governor Phil Murphy announced an executive order permitting New Jersey colleges and universities to begin the academic year with in-person instruction, in accordance with their confirmed restart plans.

As with all New Jersey higher education institutions, Seton Hall's Restart Plan was contingent on the state moving to Stage 3 of its reopening. While the state remains in Stage 2, Governor Murphy's executive order grants an exemption for colleges and universities based on New Jersey's sustained decrease of COVID-19 transmission, CDC recommendations and additional scientific guidance.

The Seton Hall Restart Plan, which is rooted in a hybrid, flexible (HyFlex) approach, allows Seton Hall to quickly respond to changing government directives such as today's executive order. Governor Murphy is meeting with New Jersey presidents, including President Nyre, late tomorrow afternoon to discuss further details.

We will provide you with additional information about this development in communications to follow. In the meantime, please continue to consult the Planning for Fall 2020 website.
