Center for Global Health Studies  

The Center for Global Health Studies, a member of the Consortium for Global Health Diplomacy, serves as a think tank and resource center on issues relating to health, governance, and security.

Academic Programs

The School of Diplomacy is proud to be the first professional school of international relations in the U.S. to offer an academic concentration that explicitly addresses the international security and foreign policy aspects of health issues. Health has become a pre-eminent political value for 21st century humanity. With new programs and initiatives constantly arising through varied organizations, the demand for professionals in this field is an omnipresent outcry that will not diminish. The School of Diplomacy is proud to be the first professional school of international relations in the U.S. to offer an academic concentration that explicitly addresses the international security and foreign policy aspects of health issues.

Students enrolled in the M.A., Diplomacy and International Relations program with strong interest in global health issues are encouraged to specialize in Global Health and Human Security. More information on this specialization is available here.

Undergraduate students can build global health coursework into their curriculum with diplomacy electives, or through a minor in Diplomacy and International Relations.

Journal of Global Health Governance

Global Health Governance is an open access, peer-reviewed, online journal that provides a platform for academics and practitioners to explore global health issues and their implications to governance and security at national and international levels.

About the Director

Dr. Yanzhong Huang directs the School’s Center for Global Health Studies, which examines global health issues from a foreign policy and security perspective.  His research and teaching interests cover global health, health diplomacy and security, public health in China, Chinese politics and public policy, and U.S.-China relations.
