Associate School Library Media (ASLM) Certification

Candidates in the M.A., Instructional Design and Technology Program with a specialization in School Library Media Specialist program may apply for Associate School Library Media (ASLM) Certification after they have completed the appropriate sequence of online courses listed below. ASLM's are eligible for full employment as school library media specialists while they complete their MA degree.

The ASLM certificate program contains two tracks:

  • Track 1 - 18 credits for candidates with a standard NJ instructional certificate
  • Track 2 - 27 credits for candidates without a standard NJ instructional certificate

Both tracks utilize required online courses from our M.A. program (18 credits).

Track 1: ASLM Candidates with a Standard New Jersey Instructional Certificate (18 Credits)

EDST 6301 Literature for Children and Young Adults 3
EDST 6304 Production of Instructional Resources I* 3
EDST 6307 Integrating Curriculum & Technology in the Inclusive Classroom 3

* Production of Instructional Resources I, II, and III may be taken in any sequence. No prerequisite skills required. Any Production course section is applicable for certification.

Track 2: ASLMS Candidates without a Standard New Jersey Instructional Certificate (27 Credits)
