Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education

Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) International Honor Society in Education advances quality education by inspiring teachers to prepare all learners for future challenges. We encourage quality learning by giving educators the means to implement research-based strategies, continue professional growth, assume leadership, and become master teachers. Undergraduate students (from sophomore year on) with a 3.4 CUM GPA average and graduate students with a 3.8 CUM GPA enrolled in the College of Education and Human Services automatically receive an invitation to join KDP in the Spring semester. Please note that KDP Xi Gamma Chapter programs are open to all education majors/Seton Hall students regardless of membership.

Graduating Kappa Delta Pi members who demonstrate service and commitment to the chapter, the profession and the community can earn an additional, optional honor, the Service Honor Stole, to wear at graduation. Click here for the KDP Honor Stole Service/Verification forms »

Counseling Psychology Student Association

The Counseling Psychology Student Association (CPSA) is open to all Counseling Psychology Ph.D. students. CPSA works to provide additional opportunities for students to enhance their training and professional development. Students also use the organization to engage in advocacy efforts, develop multicultural programs, and promote social justice through their Advocacy Committee, Multicultural Committee, and Social Justice Committee. CPSA has recently developed a program called "SHU Talks: Psychology and Human Services Research Forum" which allows students and faculty to discuss research and current social issues. CPSA also developed a program which pairs American students with international students in order to foster cross-cultural friendships on campus and create a more dynamic environment. Additionally, CPSA also organizes social events to facilitate student-faculty relationships.

The Counseling Psychology Student Association also provides multicultural research and travel grants to Counseling Psychology Ph.D. students through the Paul T. Hartman Fund for Multicultural Research.

SPLASH

The School Psychology Leadership Association of Seton Hall (SPLASH) represents the interests of graduate school psychology students engaged in the enhancement of Seton Hall University's School Psychology Program. The mission of SPLASH is to heighten the awareness of and advocate for issues relevant to the professional field of school psychology.

Members of SPLASH intend to accomplish this through building a strong network of colleagues, remaining informed about current issues that affect our profession, and encouraging others to enter the school psychology profession. It is our goal as future school psychologists to become competent, socially conscious, and reflective professional leaders who advocate for the needs of a diverse society of students, families, and communities.

The SPLASH student organization is a full-time residency for all M.A. and Ed.S. students. Students are continuously enrolled in this organization. SPLASH serves as an avenue for students to collaborate with faculty, other candidates and professionals in the field. Graduate school psychology students meet twice a semester to network, discuss mutual interests, share professional experiences, etc. They publish a newsletter twice a year. SPLASH adopted the Polar Bear Plunge in 2007 as their service activity which raises funds for Special Olympics. SPLASH is also involved in recruiting various professionals in the field to speak on a variety of topics associated with school psychology.

SPLASH is a NASP student affiliated group; an APA Division 16 Student Affiliate in School Psychology (SASP) group; and associated with NJASP's Graduate and Undergraduate Student Organization.

Seton Hall University Higher Education Graduate Student Association

The Higher Education Graduate Student Association (HEGSA) works to facilitate a fellowship of students who share solidarity in the common endeavor of earning a graduate degree in higher education. To this end, the Association serves all Seton Hall Higher Education Graduate Students with three essential purposes:

  1. Social Focus. The association provides opportunities for social interaction with fellow student colleagues. This is accomplished through established formal departmental events, as well as through more informal stand-alone Association events.
  2. Academic Focus. The association exposes its members to student and faculty experiences so that students in every phase of the program can garner an enhanced understanding of success in the program and field of study.
  3. Networking Focus. In concert with the social and academic focus, the Association provides opportunities for members to gain broader understandings of career opportunities relevant to degree attainment. Additionally, to the extent feasible, the association seeks ways to connect members directly with professional contacts in the field.
