The College of Education and Human Services, in partnership with the New Jersey Collaborative for Emotionally Focused Therapy, are pleased to present a six session, certificate program on Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy led by Dr. Debbie Joffe Ellis. The certificate program includes 9 CE* for NJ Psychologists, LPCs, MFTs.
Dr. Joffe Ellis is a psychologist, mental health counselor and professor at Columbia University. She has championed the work of her late husband, the esteemed Dr. Albert Ellis, who pioneered Rational Emotive Therapy in 1955. RET has provided the foundation of modern cognitive therapies, using an action-oriented approach to manage cognitive and behavioral disturbances. Since Albert Ellis’ passing in 2007, Debbie Joffe Ellis has dedicated much of her work to promoting and sharing REBT worldwide. She is the co-author, with Albert Ellis, of "Rational Emotive Therapy: Second Edition," published by the American Psychological Association.
"REBT is a holistic approach and a way of life for those who choose it," Joffe Ellis explains. "It's imbued with compassion and empathy." With a focus on the mind/body connection, she adds, REBT helps people gain the skills to "think in healthy ways and claim the power of their own emotional destiny."
Each program includes a presentation by Dr. Joffe Ellis on a different REBT topic, followed by a live demonstration applying the REBT approach with an audience volunteer, and a concluding Q&A session.
