For more than a decade, Relay for Life at Seton Hall has been an enthusiastic supporter of the American Cancer Society, raising over $500,000 to aid in the fight against cancer. More than 1,000 members of the Seton Hall community come together each year to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back by raising funds for outreach programs, medical research, and treatment. Seton Hall students create teams, organize fundraisers, and engage with the local community leading up to SHU Relay for Life each April. Once under way, teams walk laps around the field house track for 12 hours. Cancer never sleeps, and for one night, neither does Seton Hall.
This year, Relay for Life and SHU Athletics are partnering to create a new event that takes the "fun" in fundraising to an even higher level. The men's basketball team will be joining the fight against cancer with a special Relay for Life game at the Prudential Center on Sunday, January 22 at 12:30 p.m. By purchasing tickets using this link, you will not only get to cheer on the Pirates, but you'll be contributing to the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission. "Our goal is to sell about 100 seats. So all of the help is much appreciated," explains Amanda Smith, community manager of Relay for Life/Eastern Division. For every ticket purchased as part of this special promotion, $5 will go towards Seton Hall's Relay for Life. In addition to American Cancer Society half time activities, Relay for Life student organizers will be at the game distributing information and accepting donations.
