This past summer, Sasha Amelang completed a consulting internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a Big Four consulting firm in Wellington, New Zealand. What started as a fun summer trip to visit her brother in New Zealand extended to two months of a rewarding internship and ended with a job offer. After her studies at Seton Hall, Sasha will start her career as a PwC consultant in the island country's waterfront city.

As a double major, she wanted to explore rewarding careers in which she could use both her Diplomacy and Economics majors. She had always been interested in consulting but felt that "consulting is such an ambiguous thing that I didn't really know what it looked like and if I wanted to go into it or not." During her summer in New Zealand, Sasha marveled at the prospect of working in the island country and decided the best way to break into the consulting world was an internship at PwC's consulting branch. Emboldened by her professors in both the School of Diplomacy and Stillman School of Business, she took advantage of the School's resources to prepare her for this huge opportunity.

In preparation for an internship focused specifically on consulting, Sasha took advantage of the professional skills development and career readiness insights from Dr. Catherine Ruby, a profound resource at the School of Diplomacy's Office of Internships and Career Development. "As diplomacy students, we are prepared, but we need that reassurance and guidance to understand how to act in an office." Sasha gushed about the benefits of utilizing the School’s career development services to ensure professional success.

At 20 years old, Sasha Amelang looks excitedly to the next phase of her life, which includes completing her degree at Seton Hall in Diplomacy and Economics and living abroad with a job offer from PwC in New Zealand after graduation, experiencing the luxury of being young with the time to try out new things.

Seton Hall's School of Diplomacy and International Relations is an ideal place to study international relations and practice diplomacy firsthand in a professional, dynamic and culturally rich setting. The School's Office of Internships and Career Development provides customized coaching to enhance experiential education opportunities that empower students to excel in their careers.
