Counseling and Psychological Services promotes overall health and well being by helping students overcome obstacles that may otherwise prevent them from attaining academic, personal, and professional goals. Our mission is to foster the psychological health and well-being of our students in order to enable them to thrive, develop, and achieve academic success. We embrace the diversity that is embodied in the community we serve, and we acknowledge that the individual needs of our students are unique. Thus we treat each person with respect and dignity. Through collaboration with others across Seton Hall, we work to provide programs and services that build a supportive community for all.
All matriculated students at Seton Hall, including undergraduate, graduate, law, and seminary students are eligible to receive a comprehensive assessment and referral to appropriate services at CAPS or to an off-site service provider. Staff at CAPS provide individual counseling to those students who are best served by brief therapy treatments. Students may be referred to group services within CAPS when group treatment is the best option for the student. CAPS provides crisis intervention services in person during regular business hours and by telephone after hours in cases of true psychological emergencies. Consultation services are offered to anyone concerned about the psychological well-being of a Seton Hall student. .
Students seeking counseling are encouraged to call to set up an appointment at (973) 761-9500. Students may also stop by in-person and make an appointment.
