Seton Hall's Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies will host the 16th annual Northern New Jersey Working Together Conference on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 8 a.m. in the Main Lounge of the University Center. The conference, which has found at home at Seton Hall for the last few years, aims to create a positive relationship between the tax practitioner community and IRS employees. Tax professionals from around the state are expected to attend.
By promoting meaningful, ongoing dialogue aimed at achieving better communication between tax preparers and the IRS, the NJWT Conference provides a platform for improving service to tax payers. The conference is open to both IRS employees and the tax and accounting practitioner community.
Participants will have an opportunity to learn about audit techniques, procedures for private debt collection, and early initiatives on trust fund taxes. There will also be forums exploring tax law updates and developments pertaining to the ACA marketplace. IRS professionals will be on hand to provide updates on criminal investigations pertaining to emerging tax scams and on 2017 data breach cases.
"Data breaches are occurring more and more frequently," explains IRS Senior Stakeholder Liaison, Glenn Gizzi, who encourages tax professionals in New Jersey to take advantage of this unique opportunity to hear from the IRS' Criminal Investigations Division about the agency’s latest efforts to stop data breeches and to learn about ways to secure their systems and business operations.
The seminar runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and includes a continental breakfast and luncheon. Register by December 20th to take advantage of the early bird discount rate of $150.
