Patricia Pilas Kuchon, a long time faculty member and administrator at Seton Hall, is being honored by the American Cancer Society at its annual fund raising gala at the Palace in Somerset Park on May 5, 2017.
Kuchon is being recognized for her continued commitment to the American Cancer Society, its fundraising efforts and for her support of cancer patients who, like herself, continue to face the challenges of the disease.
Professor Kuchon has served with distinction for over 50 years as a member of Seton Hall University's graduate faculty and currently teaches in the Master's Program in Strategic Communication and Leadership in the College of Communication and the Arts.
During her tenure at Seton Hall, Kuchon served for ten years as Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs and has taught in the Colleges of Education and Human Services, Arts and Sciences and Communication and the Arts. She has been recognized by both her peers and her students with awards for teaching and her contributions to women's issues and human relations on campus.
Kuchon was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer in 2006 and has fought a daily battle to beat the bleak prognosis associated with this dreaded disease. She continues to teach in the College of Communication and the Arts, providing academic challenges, professional guidance and support to her students.
