Professor James McGlone

Seton Hall University's Catholic Studies Program, Campus Ministry and the G. K. Chesterton Institute for Faith & Culture proudly present: Catholic Life in Literature Series with Dr. Jim McGlone: Henri Gheon's The Secret of the Curé of Ars on Wednesday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Theatre in the Round (University Center).

Dr. James McGlone, Professor Emeritus of Catholic Studies and Communications, will present a reading of Henri Gheon's The Secret of the Curé of Ars.

Saint John Vianney, the Curé of Ars, was born at the beginning of the French Revolution, which made a sincere effort to extinguish the Catholic Church in France. According to playwright Henri Gheon, "there we find the man who saved souls, and the price he paid, and the countless souls he saved. The play was acted at Ars over a space of thirty years, and at exactly the same time, with all the threads in the hands of one poor priest."

Gheon conversationally painted a portrait of an almost obscure figure who managed to create a saintly image of a humble cure. During his dramatic reading of Gheon's work, Dr. McGlone will reveal The Secret of the Curé of Ars.
