Learning to Connect through Interdisciplinary Study

Ines MurzakuWhat is a degree in Catholic Studies? It is the Catholic Intellectual Tradition infused into other disciplines or other majors. Our mission statement shows how our program invites dialogue with every discipline: “The Catholic Studies Program offers an interdisciplinary curriculum for students of any creed who are interested in deepening their knowledge of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. It combines the study of history, philosophy, diplomacy, theology, literature, art, nursing, the sciences and other disciplines.” Catholic Studies focuses on the Church’s dialogue with culture and encounter with the world.

Catholic Studies faculty and students will explain how the Catholic Intellectual Tradition applies in Science, Social Sciences, Business, Global Issues, Healthcare and other areas. Faculty will showcase Catholic Studies applied courses including Theology of Food, Catholic Theology of Science, Faith and Fashion, Catholicism, Healthcare and Human Condition, Popes and Science, Spirituality of Sports, Global Catholicism and others. All Catholic Studies courses are also part of the University Core Curriculum.

Students who are either double-majoring or minoring in Catholic Studies, coming from different schools and disciplines university-wide, will be presenting on how doable and beneficial a degree in Catholic Studies is.

The panel is open to all. No registration needed. Q&A after the panel. in chat and in person. - The Live TEAMS meeting will be held on Wednesday September 16 at 3pm. Please contact Gloria Aroneo should you have any questions.
