During this academic year, over 100 students participated in Career Center sponsored "Road Trips" to organizations around the metropolitan area. At the sites, they met with department managers, recruiters, and Seton Hall alumni. Visits included the New York Yankees, SiriusXM, United Parcel Service (UPS) Technology, Madison Square Garden, US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF), Formosa Plastics, Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. Students also joined The Career Center and students from the other Big East schools at the annual "Sports & Entertainment Networking Event" at Madison Square Garden.
Kris Kamau, a Computer Science senior, said that "the UPS Technology road trip allowed me to make connections with professionals from a variety of departments. Sometimes at events on campus there are only a few representatives from a single department, but at the company site I was able to meet people from departments across the organization."
Christopher Brindle, a Criminal Justice senior, highly recommends that students attend road trips when they are available. "I learned so much about inter-agency interactions and how the ATF collaborates with other state and federal law enforcement agencies. The people I met were able to provide insight to me that I would not have had the chance to learn anywhere else."
The networking paid off for several students who received both internship and full time job offers as a result of participating. Road Trips are available each semester to Seton Hall University students. Students are encouraged to speak with their career advisor to find out more information.
