First Generation Student Achieves Internship Success

Alexandra ProstamoAlexandra Prostamo, senior management major, knows the value of being proactive. Alexandra is a first generation college student who only moved to the United States from Italy five years ago. As a student at Seton Hall University, she has been able to obtain two internships and maintain an active presence on campus.

She is currently a Product Specialist Intern at Panasonic USA. "During my time at Panasonic, I've been learning a lot about product management and product development. I feel as though I am "truly contributing to the organization – the work is never redundant and there is always something new to learn". She has been able to strengthen her experience in market research and data analysis and, as a result, developed a new interest in working for a technology company.

Prior to Panasonic, Prostamo was an operations intern at Radware, a global company that provides application delivery and cybersecurity solutions for virtual and cloud data centers. "As an intern, I assisted the VP of Sales Operations with reporting and analytics and supported various data integrity projects."

Alexandra's involvement on campus has helped her develop many of the skills she is using in her internship. As an Analysis Reporter for "The Global Current", Seton Hall's international news radio show aired on WSOU 89.5FM, "I conducted research, wrote and recorded news pieces regarding ongoing international affairs for weekly Saturday broadcasts reaching the New York City Metropolitan area." With the interest in international relations, she decided to also minor in International Business with a Western European Track, and a focus on French language. In addition, she is an active member and mentee at Seton Hall's FWA (Financial Women's Association).
