Career Center hosts Professional Etiquette Dinner

On Tuesday, November 1st, 2022, The Career Center partnered with the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and the Resilience, Integrity, Scholarship, and Excellence (R.I.S.E.) program to host the first Professional Etiquette Dinner event for EOP and R.I.S.E. Scholars.

Students enjoyed a three-course meal while learning how to communicate and dine in a professional social setting.Image of students sitting at tables for the 2022 Career Center etiquette dinner

During the meal, business etiquette presenter and educator Robert Shutt reviewed basic dining manners and proper professional etiquette skills with students, explaining the purpose and history behind the guidelines. Throughout the meal, students practiced and applied their newly learned skills as they enjoyed dinner conversations with career advisors, administrators and peers.

The Career Center understands the critical importance of providing professional development opportunities and resources to prepare students for their future careers. Training in areas such as dining etiquette helps students actively hone their professionalism and interpersonal skills to build the confidence and presence they need to compete for internships and jobs.

The Career Center looks forward to hosting more events like this in the future and welcomes the opportunity to partner with additional programs and academic divisions.
