Coming together in a powerful display of Pirate pride, the global Setonian family demonstrated its overwhelming love for their University during the second annual Seton Hall Giving Day on April 10 and 11.

This year's Giving Day significantly surpassed its goal of 1,856 contributors, raising $331,550 from 2,045 donors. That achievement allowed Giving Day to unlock an additional $75,000 in matching funds from an anonymous donor, making it the largest and most impactful day of giving all year for the University.

"The outpouring of support from our alumni, parents and the campus community was significant – especially from our students. It warms my heart to see that so many of our youngest Setonians have generous spirits and are willing to act decisively to strengthen their University. It is exactly those qualities of generosity and dedication that will make our community strong for many years to come," said Interim President Mary J. Meehan.

This year's Giving Day theme highlighted that each member of the University community plays an important role in Seton Hall's history and future, and this tremendous show of support will set a new standard for philanthropic excellence. The significant increase of 78 percent from last year's Giving Day total of more than $167,000 gifts from 1,150 donors helps honor our students and enhances the Seton Hall experience for today's Pirates.

University Advancement, Pirate Blue Athletic Fund and Seton Hall Law partnered for success on this Giving Day fundraising effort. Pirate Blue's eighth annual Donor Matching Day enjoyed record fundraising in support of Pirate Blue Nation, with 747 donors uniting alongside Seton Hall Athletics in support of our student-athletes.

Students were encouraged to make a gift so that they could write their name on a ball and throw it into the ball pit.

"This year's Giving Day was transformative as the University recorded its highest 36-hour giving total in the history of our fundraising campaigns," said Anthony D. Bellucci, Associate Vice President of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. "The generosity from our current students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff will have a tremendous impact on our students, our community and the University's future."

Gifts in any amount enabled Setonians to express their Pirate Pride and support what they care about most at the University including scholarships, student activities, athletics, volunteer efforts, campus ministry or a specific school or college. Understanding how Pirates love a challenge, thousands of additional dollars for Giving Day were unlocked as 57 alumni, parents and current students became advocates and spread the message of giving through their own networks via emails, social media and personal pleas.
