Seton Hall Community Rallies on Giving Tuesday, Helps DOVE Philanthropy Project Exceed Total Raised By 96%

Dove ProjectOn Giving Tuesday, December 1st, 2020, the Seton Hall community, alumni, family, and friends of the University banded together to support the DOVE Philanthropy Project run by the Division of Volunteer Efforts. The campaign was a resounding success, raising more than $45,000 from over 570 donors and served as a testament to the transformational work the organization does every year. Director of the Division of Volunteer Efforts, Michelle Peterson, says,

We are overwhelmed by the generous support in response to this project. This year has posed significant challenges as many continue to suffer the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic, but the kindness shown by our Seton Hall community is heartening and gives hope as we continue to put our faith into action and serve others.

Dove ProjectThe tiered project launched in August of 2020 consisted of three phases including a relief drive for the children at the Maison Fortune Orphanage in Hinche, Haiti, a "Christmas in October" Toy Drive to support local partners and bring the spirit of Christmas to underprivileged children in Appalachia, West Virginia, and a Hunger and Homelessness Food Drive that responded to the very real threat of food insecurity. Each initiative rallied on behalf of both local and global communities in need.

While all three drives were successfully completed by the end of November, the members of the Seton Hall community didn't stop there. The kindness of generous Pirates trailed into Giving Tuesday, an annual global giving movement. Three hundred Setonians answered the day-long call, helping to bolster the campaign and jumpstarting the Christmas season with a celebration of philanthropy and of giving back. Associate Vice President of Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy, Anthony D. Bellucci, M.B.A. '18 states,

I am so grateful for our amazing alumni network and all that they do to support Seton Hall and efforts like the DOVE Philanthropy Project, which was a tremendous success. Their contributions make a true difference every day not just for our surrounding communities, but also for current students as well as they continue to work with DOVE and develop into the next generation of servant leaders.

Dove ProjectIn addition to the impact felt in support of those in need, Giving Tuesday also allowed donors near and far the opportunity to fill their holidays with Seton Hall spirit, offering exclusive Pirate Christmas items like a Pirate cookie press and a 2020 Seton Hall Christmas ornament all while continuing to help DOVE transform lives and hold fast to its mission of positively impacting the lives of those in great need throughout these continued challenging times.
