Boost Your Spirit of Thankfulness During True Blue Month

True Blue Month 320 picWith November comes a spirit of gratitude and reflection, and this year the Student Alumni Association (SAA) is aiming to boost the spirit of thankfulness at Seton Hall to new heights.

The SAA has designated November as True Blue Month in celebration of the more than 2,000 Setonians who achieved True Blue status in 2017-18. True Blue is a status earned by supporters who stay connected to the University each year by completing four steps including: making a gift to the University, keeping their contact information updated, showing their Pirate Pride and getting involved in events and activities on campus.

This month includes programming that will provide the Seton Hall community with an opportunity to personally thank every supported invested in the University. True Blue Month was recognized during 2018 by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education as an "Outstanding Student Advancement Program."

This year, Seton Hall is seeking to build on its success and increase the number of True Blue members by several hundred. The SAA seeks to educate the University community about the benefits of philanthropy on student success.

An area of the University that will be highlighted throughout the month is the Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE), specifically on Giving Tuesday, the international day of giving. Through financial support of DOVE from the Seton Hall community at-large, students learn the true meaning of becoming servant leaders by participating in service activities on campus, in the local community and through mission trips abroad. On November 27th, the Seton Hall community will be called upon to support DOVE and the impact it is making on the world.

The activities organized will include events on Seton Hall's main campus, the Interprofessional Health Sciences Campus in Nutley and Clifton, N.J., and at Seton Hall Law School in Newark, N.J. Online engagement opportunities have been created so the entire Seton Hall community can take part in raising awareness about philanthropy, give thanks to supporters, show Pirate Pride and become True Blue for this academic year.

They will also notice bows in and around buildings and campus structures which indicate items that were gifted to Seton Hall.

All Setonians are encouraged to complete their True Blue giving step by supporting the DOVE on Giving Tuesday. DOVE continues to build servant leaders by creating service opportunities that impact the Seton Hall, local and global community.

True Blue Month Trivia and Virtual Participation
Throughout the month, Pirates can participate virtually by answering weekly Seton Hall trivia questions and showing Pirate Pride on social media using #HallTrueBlue.

True Blue also provides Pirates with a four-step program to demonstrate their loyalty and pride while investing in current and future Seton Hall students. The four steps are:

1. Update your information. Ensure that Seton Hall has your most up-to-date address, phone number and email.

2. Volunteer or attend an event. There are many opportunities for Pirates to attend an event or volunteer. There are even virtual events and volunteer opportunities so that no matter the distance or time constraints, every Pirate can complete this step toward becoming True Blue.

3. Make a gift to Seton Hall. Designate your gift of any amount to the area of your choice. Support your school or college, a student organization or specific scholarship fund.

4. Show Pirate Pride. Share your photo with us on social media. We want to see you wearing Seton Hall gear or taking a Pirate bandana with you on your travels.
