College of Nursing
This evidenced based educational project examined African American
students entering the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at a Community
College in northern New Jersey. This evidenced based pilot project was
designed to assess the effect of an intensive medical mathematics course
and medical mathematics tutoring. The project's purpose is to increase
the retention rate of African Americans in the first three clinical
nursing courses, the Fundamentals of Nursing, thus increasing the
Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program completion rate.
