Social media channels and strategies are always evolving, making it hard to keep up with the latest changes and features. To help demystify social media, Seton Hall is offering two new online programs focused on skill-building in social media. 

The Foundation Course in Social Media is for true social media beginners interested in navigating top-tier social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Our Advanced-Skills Course is designed for managers and strategists who are already engaged with these popular platforms.

Both courses are led by Associate Professor Dan Ladik, who teaches social media marketing at the Stillman School of Business. He will be joined by guest instructors in the advanced program. Students who complete either program successfully will be eligible for a University Certificate in Social Media.

Foundation Course:
August 31-October 23, 2020 or October 26-December 18, 2020

The Foundation Certificate in Social Media is designed for individuals whose job responsibilities may involve social media, but who lack training or experience. The program will help broaden access to job opportunities requiring strong digital marketing skills. 

Modules: Eight 20-25 minute sessions, plus two hours of “homework/certificates”
Module 0: Overview/Certificate introduction 
Module 1: History/Foundation – Where did the Internet come from? Why is it so important?
Module 2: History/Foundation – Welcome to the Bottom-Up World
Module 3: Platform overview – Facebook 
Module 4: Platform overview – Instagram
Module 5: Platform overview – LinkedIn
Module 6: Platform overview – Twitter, Snapchat and YouTube
Module 7: Platform overview – Blogging 
Module 8: Inbound/Content Marketing Strategy – “All Roads lead to Rome”

Advanced-Skills Course*:

The Advanced-Skills Course was developed for individuals with a knowledge base in social media. The program is geared toward executives and managers working with social and digital media who want to advance their careers, as well as entrepreneurs interested in learning how to use these digital tools to grow their businesses.

Modules: Twelve 20-25 min sessions, plus 6 hours of “homework/certificates”

*Students looking to place directly into the Advanced-Skills Course must have already taken the Foundation Course, or must take this pre-assessment which will be reviewed by Professor Dan Ladik.
