Compass for Students
What is Seton Hall Compass?
Seton Hall Compass aims to increase retention and graduation rates by improving student achievement. Developed by the Education Advisory Board (EAB) and accessible through PirateNet, the platform combines technology and research to help students in their academic endeavors. Compass provides faculty, advisers, tutors, and program directors with a convenient way to support students.
Some students might have academic performance or attendance issues. Compass gives us an efficient way to communicate those concerns to the people who can help, while respecting FERPA and our institution's policies on the privacy of student information.
We offer drop-in tutoring in the ARC (Arts and Sciences Hall, Suite 242) for most of our subjects; no appointments are necessary. Schedule an Appointment for specific subjects.
For individual and group tutoring, appointments can be made online through Seton Hall Compass.
- Click on PirateNet (http://signin.shu.edu/)
- Click on the "COMPASS" icon
- Under "Class Information," click on "Schedule Tutor Appointment" or "Request Tutor Appointment." For the Writing Center, click on the blue "Writing Center Tutoring" button.
- A list of tutors will appear. If a tutor or time is not available, email firstname.lastname@example.org with your request.
For the Math Learning Lab (AS 239) or Writing Center (Walsh Library, 3rd floor), appointments should be made online through Seton Hall Compass. Call (973) 761-9000, ext. 7501 for more information.
