Seton Hall University

For Parents

For parentsThe several offices of the Division provide essential services – like housing and security – but the primary mission of the Division is to support student success and enrich the experience of Seton Hall students by providing rich and varied opportunities for personal growth and development.

You also have a vital role to play in your student's success. One of the most important factors for students is a supportive family. Your student still needs you. However, this time at college is their journey, and not all lessons are learned in the classroom. Among the most important skills that a student develops in college are things like self-management and self-advocacy. Personal development only happens when students are allowed to make their own decisions and solve their own problems.

One of the most important things that you can do to effectively help your student is to become familiar with the resources and procedures of the University. For a quick and easy way to access campus resources, please visit the Parents Toolkit. You can read descriptions of the departments of the Division, and important resources like the Student Handbook. The Undergraduate Catalogue is also available on line. Becoming familiar with this information will put you in a better position to advise your student and then encourage them to take their own actions to get what they need. Visit www.shu.edu/parents for the most recent information from our Division

You can also get involved by becoming an active member of the Pirate Parent Ambassador Program or the Parents Leadership Council.
