Whitney Slaten, Ph.D. candidate in ethnomusicology at Columbia University, researches and teaches at the nexus of music, technology, liveness, and labor studies. His dissertation examines the relationships between technological and social examples of fidelity within the context of live sound reinforcement engineering. He is a jazz saxophonist and sound engineer.
