Hired in 1995, Joyce Strawser is Dean of the Stillman School and an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Taxation, where she has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting and Financial Instruments. Prior to taking on the role as Dean, Dr. Strawser served as Associate Dean of Undergraduate and MBA Curricula from July 2001 to June 2010. Dr. Strawser has developed the department's course in Financial Instruments, a course that blends accounting and finance perspectives on traditional and derivative financial instruments. She has used both Lecture 123 and Camtasia screen capture software programs to enhance the flexibility of her course offerings.
Dr. Strawser's research interest relates to both financial reporting and managerial accounting issues, particularly those that have significant social consequences or policy implications. She has authored or co-authored publications that have appeared in the CPA Journal, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, National Public Accountant, Journal of Accounting and Finance Research, Journal of Accounting Education, Journal of Business Ethics, Research in Healthcare Financial Management and the Corporate Controller's Manual. She has presented her research at meetings of the American Accounting Association and the American Academy of Accounting and Finance.
