Faculty and Employee E-Mail Migration
Department of Information Technology

On March 16, 2009, faculty and employees will receive a modernized e-mail system that offers far superior capabilities, capacity and on-the-go, mobile access.  The Department of IT will start migrating all employee and faculty e-mail from the current Lotus Notes e-mail system to Microsoft Exchange, providing better integration with other university systems, including Banner, PirateNet and Blackboard.

While major infrastructure changes like this e-mail migration are never easy, upon completion the University community will have the tools it needs to meet the challenges and emerging trends for the next decade.

Benefits

  • a new, human readable e-mail address (don't worry, you'll keep your old one, too)
  • far, far better Webmail access from any computer, anywhere
  • far, far more space: 500 megs!
  • mobile access for Blackberries and other mobile devices
  • cool new features, like Web-based file sharing: 25 gigs of personal file storage

How You Get It

  • Faculty will receive the new system on an individual basis.
  • Administrators and staff will be migrated by department.

Administrators

Your department head is being contacted by DoIT and being asked to provide information about you, your computer and if you need to retain the information in your Lotus Notes calendar and/or Personal Address Book.
