Laptop Check-in Information Laptop Check-in is mandatory for all students participating in the Mobile Computing Program. All Mobile Computing students are required to check-in their laptops each semester. The purpose of laptop check-in is to ensure that students still have possession of the laptop assigned to them and that our records of serial numbers remain accurate.
Laptop Check-in occurs each semester over a two week period that ends one week prior to pre-registration. The Check-in process is completed via an on-line form. To check-in your laptop, click on the check-in link that was e-mailed to your SHU e-mail account. Once in the form, you will be required to enter your laptop model number and serial number. The form will also ask you to report any known laptop problems. Once you have completed the form, click on submit to process the check-in. For a successful check-in, you will receive a confirmation of the check-in. Print a copy of the confirmation for your records. If the check-in was not successful, you will receive a response page advising you to contact the Asset Management Office to assistance.
Failure to comply with this request will result in a $1000 fine and a hold on your bursar account, which means that you will not be able to pre-register for the following semester. Once you have successfully checked in your laptop, the fine will be reduced to a $50 late fee. The hold on your account will not be lifted until you have paid the balance on your account. All payments must be made to the Bursar Office.
REMINDER: If your laptop is in repair you must check-in your loaner laptop in person during the check-in period by visiting Corrigan Hall Rm. 25 during the hours of Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.
Don't forget to use your Student ID number when completing the Laptop Check-in Form. If you don't know your student ID number, it is located on the back of your SHU ID card.
