The following is a list of guidelines for caring for your IT equipment: - Do not allow unauthorized persons to use your equipment.
- Keep the equipment out of reach of small children who might misuse it.
- Do not subject equipment to physical punishment, such as dropping or bumping.
- Do not place heavy objects on your laptop.
- Use care when placing equipment on a table or desk, keeping it away from the edge
- Keep liquids that may spill away from the equipment
- Do not use the equipment in or near water.
- Do not disassemble or attempt to repair the equipment.
- Do not store your equipment where the temperature is below 41° F or above 95° F.
- Do not leave the equipment in your car.
- When setting up the equipment, make sure that the power cord and / or Ethernet cord does not stretch out over an area where someone may trip over it.
- Do not use the equipment on surfaces where the fan may be blocked, this may cause overheating.
- Do not put stickers or write or carve on the casing of the equipment.
- Do not place the equipment closer than 5 inches to electrical appliances that generate a strong magnetic field, i.e., motor, magnet, TV, refrigerator, or large audio speakers.
Laptop Specific Guidelines (in addition to those listed above):
- Do not scratch, twist, hit or push the surface of your laptop screen.
- Do not place any objects between the display and the keyboard or under the keyboard.
- When carrying the laptop, hold it by the bottom half, not the screen
- Put the laptop to sleep (Fn+F4), disconnect all cables and close all doors and covers before moving the laptop.
- Do not use your laptop on the beach, where sand may get inside of it.
- Do not check the laptop as baggage or give it to bellman or valet.
- If you ship or mail the laptop, purchase adequate shipping insurance and use laptop specific packaging.
- Use the carrying case provided that has adequate cushion and protection. Using a tightly packed bag or backpack may cause damage to the screen.
- Do not carry the laptop un-covered in inclement weather.
Cleaning the Equipment:
- Do not spray cleaner directly on the screen or keyboard.
- Use a soft cloth moistened with non-alkaline detergent to wipe the exterior.
- Gently wipe the screen with a dry, soft cloth. If necessary, moisten a cloth with a cleaner made specifically for a computer screen and wipe the screen with the moistened cloth. Follow with a dry cloth.
- Use canned spray air to remove debris from the keyboard.
