 Windows 8 Mail Setup for Office 365 

 

Part 1 - Windows 8 Mail Modern Interface Application for Office 365

  1. On the Windows 8 Modern UI Tile Home Screen, enter the MAIL Application:

  2. Open the Settings in the Windows 8 charms bar:

  3. Choose Accounts.

  4. Add an Account - Choose - Outlook (Exchange, Office365, Outlook.com)

  5. Click "Show More Details"

    Enter the following information:

    1. Email Address - first.last@student.shu.edu
    2. Server Address - m.outlook.com
    3. Domain - outlook.com/student.shu.edu
    4. Username - shortname@shu.edu (ex - smithjo@shu.edu)
    5. Password - Current PirateNet / AD password
    6. Click "Connect"

Part 2 - Troubleshooting the Windows 8 Mail Modern Interface Application after the upgrade from LIVE@EDU to Office 365

After the Upgrade to Office365, Window 8 users may need to reconfigure their authentication settings from LIVE@EDU to Office365 credentials.

The indication is after entering the Windows 8 Modern UI MAIL application, you will see a Red notification to "Check Settings" as shown below.

Correcting authentication for Office365:

  1. While in the MAIL application, click the Account on the bottom left with the Red notification to "Check Settings" in order to reconfigure.
  2. Click "Show More Details"

    1. Email Address - first.last@student.shu.edu
    2. Server Address - m.outlook.com
    3. Domain - outlook.com/student.shu.edu
    4. Username - shortname@shu.edu (ex - smithjo@shu.edu)
    5. Password - Current PirateNet / AD password
    6. Click "Connect"

If the steps above did not work, please remove the account and set up the account again

  1. Open the MAIL application, open the Settings in the Windows 8 charms bar:

  2. Choose "Accounts"

  3. Click on the account with the Red "Check Settings"

  4. Scroll to the bottom and click "Remove Account"
