Instructional Support
Department of Information Technology

The University provides specific services to faculty to promote and support the effective use of technology to enhance teaching and learning including the services of the Teaching, Learning, and Technology (TLT) Center and internal grant programs.

The TLT Center hires an Instructional Design staff who offer support and consultation to faculty in the evaluation, selection, implementation and use of instructional technology and serve as a primary point of contact for all faculty technology projects.

To further promote the use of instructional technology, the TLT Center also funds several internal grant programs and projects.  These grant programs and projects encourage faculty to expand the use of instructional technology by providing the funding and support needed to investigate, test, and implement new technologies in their field of study for instructional purposes.

The TLT Center also provides services for university supported instructional applications and tools.  Blackboard is a web-based learning management system used throughout SHU to deliver online or web-enhanced courses.  ASSET (Academic Survey System and Evaluation Tool) is an online survey tool that allows you to create and administer surveys online to assess the usefulness of instructional technologies.

Equipping students with laptops and a top-speed wireless network are just two ways that SHU uses technology to enhance education.
