Tech Buddies

Students Technology Assistants (STAs) known as Tech Buddies facilitate the use of technology in the classroom. Responsibilities include audiovisual equipment delivery, support of audiovisual equipment delivered or installed in the classroom, delivery and set up of the wireless cart laptops, and in-class software and hardware support.

Prerequisites:

  • You must be an active faculty member or administrator teaching a class during the current semester or hosting a university event on the SHU campus.
  • You must have a valid SHU e-mail address.

Process:

  • In order to reserve a Tech Buddy, the TLTC requires 3 business days notice. This provides ample time for the TLTC to schedule a Tech Buddy with the desired skills to meet the specific needs of your class.
  • You must have a valid SHU e-mail address to request a Tech Buddy. If you do not have a valid SHU e-mail address your department secretary can submit a Tech Buddy request for you.
  • To reserve a Tech Buddy, please click on the link below. You will be required to login in using your webmail ID and password. Once you are logged in, an online form will open. Complete the form with as much detail as possible. Include the software and hardware that you will be using as well as any specific areas where you feel that the class will need the assistance of the Tech Buddy. Once you have completed the form, click on the button labeled “Submit Request”.
  • A separate request form must be completed for each class in which you wish to request a tech buddy.
Requests are handled on a first come first serve basis.
  • You will receive a confirmation of your request via e-mail within one business day of submitting your request.

If you have any questions or concerns relating to these policies and procedures, please contact the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center at extension 2929 (on campus) and (973) 275-2929 (off campus) or send an e-mail to tltc@shu.edu.
