Computer Training Classroom 

The Computer Training Classroom (CTC) offers training to the entire SHU community on all university supported software. The CTC offers many different methods of training and is extremely adaptable to different learning needs and styles. The following lists the types of training currently offered by the CTC:

  • Classroom Instruction -The CTC offers regularly scheduled classes covering the MS Office suite, Lotus Notes, BlackBoard and MS FrontPage.
  • One-on-One Instruction -The CTC offers personalized class instruction for those that can't attend a group session or for those who desire more detailed or advanced training.
  • Department Training -CTC offers group instruction that addresses the individual needs of a department.
  • Class Training -For Faculty, the CTC will bring a training session to your classroom and train your students on any of the standard software programs.
  • Computer Based Training -The CTC offers a large selection of courses you can take via your computer through Element K.

Prerequisites:

  • Customers must be members of the SHU community.
  • Classes are geared to the University suite of standard software.

Process:

  • Beginners and Intermediate software users are asked to attend one of the many regularly scheduled courses offered in the Computer Training Classroom, To sign up for a class, click on the Training Calendar link in the left hand navigation of the Department of Information website. Select the class that you wish to attend and click on register in the far right column. You will need to sign in using your SHU account information. Once you sign in, the registration form will open. Verify the existing information and fill in any missing information then click Register.
  • To schedule a one-on-one session, send an e-mail to training@shu.edu with details regarding which application(s) you need assistance with, as well as, a list of times and dates as to when you would like to have a meeting scheduled. An instructor will then contact you when a meeting time has been set up.
  • To schedule department training, e-mail or call the CTC.
  • To schedule class training, e-mail or call the CTC.
  • To access Element K for computer based training
