Classroom and Event Support Service
The Teaching, Learning and Technology Center is committed to supporting both our faculty in the classroom and our community at its events outside the classroom. We are also responsible for the installation and maintenance of all the classroom technology on the South Orange campus. We provide state of the art equipment to help you use technology in the classroom, during a meeting or at an event. In addition to equipment, we also provide Tech Buddy assistance, a student technology assistant who will offer technical support in the classroom during class time.
Prerequisites:
- Customers of the TLTC must be affiliated with or sponsored by a department, administrator or faculty member of Seton Hall University. A subset of the services is also available to the student population.
- Customers must have a valid SHU e-mail account.
- Customers must demonstrate budgetary approval for those services associated with a cost.
- Customers must abide by the policies and procedures set forth by the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center.
- The class or event must take place on the Seton Hall University South Orange campus, only.
Process:
General Procedures:
- Classroom activities take priority over any other service provided by the TLTC.
- Requests are handled on a first come first serve basis.
- There is no fee for classroom instruction and department meetings that fall within normal hours of operation.
- There is a staffing cost for services that fall outside of the normal hours of operation. The fee is calculated using the current university hourly rate for staff overtime.
Classroom Delivery
- The TLTC requires that 2 business days notice be given for any equipment needs.
- All reservation requests must be made via our on-line reservation system. If you need the link to the on-line reservation system please send an e-mail to mediaservice@shu.edu.
- Upon receipt of your e-mail, we will send you a link to the Reservation Database.
- Once you receive and open the link simply click on the "Make a Request" button and fill out the form completely by answering the questions and choosing the options presented.
- There is a charge to organizations for the use of University audiovisual equipment, either built into classrooms or borrowed from Media Services. See the TLTC Cost Schedule below for the costs for the audiovisual equipment currently available for rent from the TLTC.
Facilities Request:
- The TLTC is responsible for the maintenance and scheduling of three technology enhanced classrooms on the SHU campus: the Interactive Television Classroom (ITV), Beck A& B, and Beck Room C.
- The TLTC requires 2 business days notice for a facilities request.
- To check availability or to reserve one of these rooms use the University Scheduler at http://reservations.shu.edu.
- Questions regarding the technology in the Interactive Television Classroom (ITV) or the Beck Rooms A, B, C should be directed to Ron Myzie, Assistant Director, TLTC for Classroom and Event Support.
- Access to TLTC facilities are permitted within the operating hours of the TLT Center and/or the Walsh Library. The TLTC will not allow the use of its facilities outside of the normal operating hours of the Library unless confirmation of early or late openings of the Library is received from the Dean of the Library. Once a confirmation is received the TLTC will reserve the resources requested if available and schedule the necessary support for the times requested.
- If an event falls outside of the TLTC and University Library hours of operations, you must also submit a request to the Department of Public Safety to provide security coverage. Security coverage must be scheduled for the duration of the hours that fall outside of the hours of operation.
Event Planning:
- For equipment and facility requests for your event, please see the procedures listed above.
- If you are requesting any other service of the TLTC in support of your on campus event, the TLTC requires a two week notice and a meeting with Eva Gale, Assistant Director of the TLTC to plan the support of your event and discuss any additional staffing needs and costs that may be necessary to support your event successfully.
- Any costs related to additional resources required to support your event will be charged to the department requesting the service, via an electronic IDT. This IDT must be signed and returned to the TLTC prior to a confirmation of support or equipment use.
