Completing the program guarantees a student a full time job in the Active Army serving in career fields such as the Nurse Corps, Aviation, Engineer, Infantry, Military Intelligence, and Signal Corps to name a few or part time job in the National Guard or Army Reserve as your explore your own full time civilian career. The military obligation of service is eight years after commissioning (four years Active Army and four years in the reserve component, or eight years in the National Guard or Army Reserve). In return, Cadets receive an education second to none, leadership fit for victory, and experiences others may never have in a lifetime. Most students in the Military Science Program consider their commitment not an obligation, but a privilege, and one that they aim at fulfilling with the upmost honor, duty, and respect.
The type of obligation is determined at the time of contracting in the advanced course and based on the type of scholarships a student selects. Students are selected for a specific branch depending on factors such as their interest, academic achievement, Leader Development Assessment Course (LDAC) performance rating, and the needs of the Army. Senior cadets can also choose to delay their entry into active service following graduation, by competing for the Educational Delay Program. Seniors can choose to pursue graduate studies in variety of fields including medical school, law school, or an advanced degree in their respective major.
