The Seton Hall University Department of Public Safety provides a
free, reliable escort service to transport members of the University
community from the main campus to locations in the immediate vicinity that are not on the SHUFLY route. This service, SHU SafeRide, available for transportation to and from the Public Safety building, is located directly behind Corrigan Hall and adjacent to the Ward Place exit.
SHU SafeRide hours (Spring and Fall Semesters):
Monday-Friday: 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Saturday-Sunday: 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.
SafeRide is available to all members of the Seton Hall University community. To ride SafeRide, community members need an SHU ID. This service was designed to provide a safe transportation alternative for those traveling the streets around campus in the evening hours and is available for transportation to and from the Public Safety building.
Those wishing to avail themselves of this escort service should respond to the Public Safety building and request a ride at the service window. Return transportation can be arranged by calling Public Safety at (973) 761-7550.
Safe Ride in the Summer -- Pilot Program
The Department of Public Safety and the Division of Student Services will offer our community on a trial basis a Summer Safe Ride transportation service in the absence of our SHUfly shuttle. This pilot program will provide transportation to and from locations within a half-mile radius of the South Orange campus, operating from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday. The service will not be available on holidays or during the weekends. The service will be offered to students registered for summer classes and members of the Seton Hall community. People seeking rides outside of these hours or beyond a half-mile radius of the campus should plan ahead for alternative transportation. Riders also will need to be patient; this will be a first-come, first-served program.
We have built our summer schedule to accommodate the library hours and academic course offerings. Community members can request rides from campus by responding to the Public Safety building located adjacent to the Ward Gate. Rides to campus can be requested by dialing (973) 761-7550. Hours and availability of this service may change based on need.
