Middle States Periodic Review

In 2009 Seton Hall University will submit its Periodic Review Report to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.  Regional accreditations are an important opportunity for the University to assess its status  and progress toward achievement of  long term goals, and to calibrate its standards.  The bulk of the work for the  Periodic Review Report will be done during fall 2008 and thus coincides with the ongoing Strategic Plan process.

Date Started: Oct 3, 2008
Status:In Progress

Project Description

The next on-site accreditation visit and review  is scheduled for 2014; the Periodic Review is a routine retrospective, described in MSCHE's documents as a "current and prospective analysis of the institution;" it is due five years after the decennial review, for Seton Hall in  2009.  The previous Middle States site visit in 2004 resulted in distinct recommendations, the progress on which Seton Hall is expected to report.  The Steering Committee will develop a timeline for preparation of the document, and identify the University offices or groups pertinent to each of the Middle States recommendations.  These offices will be asked to assess the University's progress on the recommendations and draft an appropriate response to the Committee by Thanksgiving.

The members of the committee are:

  • Greg Burton, Chair,  Associate Provost
  • Mary Balkun, Professor of English, Faculty Senate Representative
  • Andrew Brereton,  Division of  Student Affairs and Enrollment Services
  • MaryAnn Clark, Professor, School of Health and Medical Sciences
  • Paul Fisher, Director, Teaching, Learning Technology Center, Department of Information Technology
