Office of the President

President's Message on Ethics Reporting
Monsignor Robert Sheeran

The mission of Seton Hall University encompasses our firm commitment to the development of ethical individuals as servant leaders in society and calls for all members of the community to operate under the highest moral standards – to teach, to learn, to live ethically and within the law.

In all interactions with our fellow human beings we must be aware of legal and ethical considerations. We also recognize that workplace conflicts and problems sometimes arise and must be addressed properly and honestly, respecting the rights of individuals and the community as a whole.

Therefore, I endorse the implementation of a new telephone and Web-based external reporting service called EthicsPoint.com, which will provide employees with another venue (in addition to the University's Compliance Office) for anonymous and confidential reporting of issues and concerns associated with possible unethical and/or illegal activities.

EthicsPoint.com will enable the Seton Hall community to report incidents that are critical to effective governance and to assess internal and external risks; further, it will establish an external reporting mechanism for University complaints of possible unethical and/or illegal activities.

I hope that this initiative will raise awareness within our community as to the importance of a sustainable ethical culture consistent with our Catholic mission and best practices for all employees. Please take some time to become familiar with this service. If you have any questions or feedback concerning EthicsPoint.com, please contact the University Compliance Officer at (973) 313-6132.
