President Emeritus Sheeran

Welcome to Seton Hall

Sheeran I am happy to greet you as a visitor to the online home of Seton Hall University. And I look forward to doing so in person on the campus green one of these days.

Whether you are a prospective student or a parent, an alumnus or a current student, a casual visitor or a longtime friend, you are most welcome to Seton Hall. Our founder, Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley, welcomed a handful of young men to the college he named for his aunt, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, in September 1856.

That visionary Bishop of Newark might be amazed to see what has happened during the past century and a half — here on the campus of our university and in the world at large. But what he intended for us, generations after his lifetime, was to open the doors of opportunity for learning in a faith-filled environment.

Read more about Seton Hall's extraordinary history.

So, because of him — and because of those who kept open those doors through many difficult times —you now have the opportunity to explore, in depth and at your leisure, a truly remarkable community of teachers, learners and leaders. Here a dedicated and distinguished faculty offers a diverse and dynamic student body the best of the old and the new: a traditional, values-centered education supported by the very latest in state-of-the-art mobile computing and information technology.

I invite you to take a close look at our core curriculum, designed to be a signature experience for all undergraduates, to provide a strong foundation for all that they learn and do here.

And, most important of all, you have the opportunity to meet a community of gifted and creative men and women, committed to academic excellence and ethical development, with the mission of informing the mind and transforming the heart.

That is who we are here at Seton Hall. That is what we are about.

Welcome. I am glad that you have come to learn more. Our doors — on this Web site and in the "real world" — are open to you.

Blessings,
Monsignor Robert Sheeran
President
