Kronos is a university-wide automated time, attendance and leave management application. It is part of the overall ERP/Banner project implementation. Human Resources (HR) has chosen Kronos to streamline mission critical HR, payroll, and time and leave processes. Kronos represents a “best-in-class” solution that integrates time and attendance with HR and Payroll. Kronos will result in significant time and cost savings by improving upon the current labor intensive process surrounding paper timesheet administration.
Student workers, bi-weekly employees, and administrators must record time and attendance via the Kronos system. The timecard must be approved by the employee and his/her supervisor each pay period. Supervisors must ensure the accurate work schedule for their employees are defined. Exempt employees’ actual compensation is determined by the salary, not the hours worked. Therefore, Kronos should be used to administer exception time (vacation, sick, etc.) for exempt employees. Vacation requests should also be facilitated through Kronos.
